Richmond Hill Home Karaoke

A 100-inch home karaoke projection upgrade in Richmond Hill, combining an LG ultra-short-throw projector with the homeowner’s existing Bose speakers.

Project Background

This Richmond Hill homeowner wanted a larger image for home karaoke without replacing every component of an existing entertainment system. The starting point was a 75-inch television, Bose speakers and karaoke equipment that still had value. Avvantage’s brief was to improve the viewing experience while respecting a budget and a short installation timeframe.

The room measured approximately 10 by 16 feet, with a 14-foot ceiling. It was also a bright residential space. These conditions favoured a compact projection arrangement and a focused upgrade, with attention given to how the new display would work alongside the existing cabinet, speakers and karaoke components.

The Challenge

A larger image changes more than the size of the screen. The projector and screen must be positioned and aligned together, while the room still needs to function as a comfortable place to sing and gather. The installation therefore had to fit the existing setting rather than assume an empty, purpose-built cinema room.

The audio system also needed adjustment. Microphone feedback can make an otherwise capable karaoke installation unpleasant to use. Retaining the existing speakers meant working with their placement and the system’s gain settings, instead of treating new equipment as the only route to improvement.

The Solution

Avvantage installed a 100-inch projection screen and an LG ultra-short-throw projector. The compact projection approach delivered the larger picture the client wanted within the available room. Screen installation and projector alignment were completed together, so the new image could be assessed as a working system.

The existing Bose speakers and karaoke equipment were then reconnected. Speaker positions were adjusted and microphone gain was reduced to address feedback. These changes focused on the way the components interacted in the room, keeping the upgrade tied to the client’s original goals and budget.

Image and sound performance were checked following installation. The documented work was completed in approximately three hours, covering the new projection arrangement and practical audio adjustments. The scope remained targeted: improve the picture and usability while retaining useful parts of the existing setup.
